Umm. I still prefer each cultivar in one (large) division: 

1) I soak all beardless in pails upon arrival and I can keep
better track of them. 
2) they are far easier to plant (I am an impatient gardener :-) 
3) large divisions seem to do much better BUT there are always
exceptions. 
4) one year I had several unknown fans in the pails so I planted
them with the tag "unknown Siberians". P.S. they were ALL Lee's
Blue that I had gotten from Andy Wheeler that year. I ended up
with four fantastic clumps but the bigger intact division got to
blooming size a year before the smaller "unknown" fans.

I agree with Carol that this is good topic for discussion - too
bad the fall TSI is all laid out for the printer.
