Ellen,
I am like you, I love my neighbors pine straw and they love for me to come
and take it away. I think that is part of gardening, "harvesting" mulch and
compost materials, especially from people who don't see or know its value.
We have had several years of drought and the pines have shed their needles
quite heavily to cope with the stress so it does not take much time or a
large area to gather all I need.
Have you noticed any soil change from using pine strw mulch, other than the
usual mulch benefits? Like lowering of ph or toxicity build up?
