Moving clumps in the fall?

I have some well established clumps of Lady Vanessa, Butter and Sugar, Mesa
Pearl, that I am faced with moving, as well as some spurias. I would rather
do sibs in the spring, but I do need to rennovate these beds for another
major project (I know you are asking--what could possibly take precedence
over waiting for the right time to move siberians?--don't ask.) Here is my
question:
Would it be better to (1) move the clumps now, while they are still growing
(without major division) and get them re-established or (2) wait a month
until we have a frost to get them dormant, and "heel" them in at a new
location? Do you have a third option? (Our fairly mild winters usually
allow some time from November-February for serious "dirt/pond/brick work.")
I originally planted these in the fall, but have always had better success
in the spring.
Thanks in advance,
Bob
