Neil, and everybody,

First of all, thanks to Mike for sharing the article.

Yes, it's going to be a tough project but with  SAGE, we'll be able 
to gather data from zones 3 or 4 through to zone 9.  We've found out 
that  what may be worthy in the west  is not necessarily up to 
scratch here in Canada because of extreme climatic fluctuations.  
George's article  scratches the surface and leaves us hungry for more 
information.  Hopefully SAGE can generate numbers that we can work 
with and more importantly, yield seedlings that are tougher and more 
consistent than some of the plants that consistently underperform 
here.  

Comments on SA x SA crosses are interesting in that only 30% of the 
seedlings are SA's and approx. 90% are unstable mutants.  Why ????  
What I find disturbing is how registered Space Agers like DIETY and 
LURID behave consistently like unstable mutants.  Trying  to  
understand SA  genetics will be like finding a needle in a hay stack 
but we can get the project rolling with Neil's "Space Age Genetics 
Effort" this year.  

How's the purposed  AIS article coming along Neil ?  

Anybody have any SA bloom yet ?  Any observations to share ?  We've 
started melting now here in Lafontaine Quebec.  As far as I can see, 
there hasn't been any casualties so far in the Iris beds.  Amazingly 
enough, all of my Arilbreds pulled through the winter as well but I'm 
reserving judgement until they make it through the wet Spring.  

It's been a tough winter.
