RE: [SpaceAgeRobin] Re: More Mischief

I’m not directly involved with the SAGE study, but I had several space age crosses blooming this spring.  Elegant Girl X Happenstance is yielding a number of pink seedlings with short fuzzy horns.  Some beards are pink with lavender horns and are pretty.  Most are short of buds and branches and don’t have any future.

My Mesmerizer crosses have bloomed fourteen plants with only two showing any SA appendages.  Mesmerizer crossed with one of my seedlings (Pink Lenox X Celebration Song) has bloomed six plants with no SA qualities, or any other for that matter, and they are out of here.

Four Twice Thrilling seedlings have bloomed and two of them have nice horns.

The nicest SA spoons were on a seedling by Appleblossom Days X Margaret Inez that I posted last week on Iris Photos.  I’ve had only five plants from that cross.  Two bloomed last year with no appendages and were removed.  Only one of three bloomed this year.  The others may leave to give it room because I like it.

My hybridizing season hasn’t been good this year.  Heat and dry winds have destroyed all the pollen before it formed.  I have no more SA crosses.

Hi Neil,

Good timely post.  We have to make our best efforts to get on the same
page in a short period of time.  So what have you daubers in
California, Texas been up to ?  It would be great to get some bloom
reports, a list of crosses made and a summary of what took and what
didn't along with weather conditions.

We're just about in the thick of it and the list is uncommonly quiet
for this time of year.  Here's to a acquiring our first group of seeds
for SAGE !

Chris
