Chris,
Most of the crosses I have made this spring were
planned, or half planned any way, because some of the irises I planned on using
have been no shows so far! Then again some of the crosses were made on a whim,
for example, last Friday evening before the storms hit, I made a cross using
HOOK EM HORNS X SUMMERTIME BEAUTY, and low and behold I have a seed pod! mostly
been working with ROMANTIC EVENING, FOGBOUND, PUCCINI, and a couple of
SA seedlings of mine that is from FLOOR SHOW x CLOUDIA X PAGAN DANCE, I'm
trying to clean it up a little. Also another SA seedling that is CREATIVE
STITCHERY X CONJURATION, it grows like a weed, has tall stalks(not so good after
60 mph wind) and large blooms. The standards are to open for my taste, but I'm
hoping to improve on it.
Jim
Jim,
Wow, I should proof read before I send ! LOL
! Serves me right for hanging out at yahoo while I'm supposed to
be working.
We had terrible winds up here for the last two
days, it's scarey because we live on a heavily wooded lot and a few blew over
but thankfully, away from the house and cars. We had a pretty big melt
this afternoon, I saw the grass in the front yard for the first time since
December.
7 crosses so far ? Wow, lucky. What are you working with this
year ? Are they planned crosses or the spontanious variety ?
Have you got SA seedlings about to bloom as well ? Have any favorite
breeders ?
Chris
