Re: SOLAR FIRE X (THORNBIRD x unknown) #3



I made sure the photo is attached this time! #3 was badly treated by the
digging dogs last summer. It hasn't grown as well as #1 or #2 and that may
be the reason. Much shorter than the others, so far the blooms have shown
the short, rather flat horns you can see here. However, it is also not
going to have as many blooms to watch as the others. A better location and
another year might be justified here if al the blooms have those horns. I'm
not much inclined to do it, but may provided it shows consistant appendages.

The picture is a very soft focus because I just haven't had the right kind
of light. It's between the tree and the taller clumps of #1 & #2, so even
when the sun is shining it's down low in the shade. My camera doesn't like
low light. I used the flash and that photo is sharper, but changes the
finish of the bloom.
