Neil, The trick of bringing a bud indoors and letting it open there produces good pollen . The procedure was meant for rainy areas but it works well for us to avoid insect damage. Living in a large laser-leveled ag area means the insect population reaches staggering proportions in late spring
I don't have room to plant what I do have, so I
should be grateful.

This summer I have had a disasterous infestation of borer.  The Merit I
applied was apparently at too light a rate, but did do some good as control.
I haven't had a single aphid since I put it on, either, which is quite
unusual for here.
