I
received a catalog from TB’s Place last week. Tom Burseen has a really remarkable
space age iris. It’s a
blue-black with white flounces. He is
the most candid iris grower there is.
He admits he is asking a ridiculous price for it, because it doesn’t
grow well, and he wants to sell it to hybridizers only. Most of his grow like weeds at my
place. I might wait a few years to
see if he gets it to multiply and the price comes down. It would also be interesting to know if
it passes on that dramatic contrast of flounces. The pollen parent is ‘It Ain’t
So’ which I had already planned to make some crosses with this spring. Francelle Edwards
