TREASURED, another of the Ghio introductions, is
from the same cross Bill mentions, but made in the opposite
direction.
I might also mention that FOGBOUND has the
rather helpful habit of sending up bloomstalks from the most mature increases
later than the primary from the mother rhizome, stretching out the season.
I usually lose the primary to frost, so this guarentees me bloom. Fogbound
still produces plenty of increase and shows healthy, wholesome growth habits and
vigor here, as do most of its seedlings--which, by the way, are a diverse bunch
and of interesting, pastel colors. We might also note that Keppel's
introductions ADOREGON, CRYSTAL GAZER and its sib VENETIAN GLASS are all
seedlings of Fogbound
This photo below belongs to PATRICK
ORR. The color of Fogbound as it blooms in the garden here is more
delicate than either this photo or the one Bill posts suggest. It comes off
as a white iris in the garden until seen quite closely.
![]() From the experience Keppel and Ghio have had--and
from what I have seen in my own seedlings I heartily agree--Fogbound is an
awesome breeder of good things. I'd go so far as to say it establishes a
benchmark for breeding quality like few others have since PINK
SLEIGH, RIPPLING WATERS or MARY RANDALL.
Is there a faint suggestion there might be a shelf
or ledge under that beard?
