When you imported the Blyth intros, did you have to obtain an import permit? I just wondered what paperwork was involved in importing from Australia into the U.S. Any tips/advice would be welcomed.
Several of us got together and combined an order to lessen the cost effect of the Phyto Certificate required by Australia which is $40 Austrailian. There was no US import fee.
At the time we ordered, the currency exchange rate made the cost about 75% of the US dollars, or about $30. We got hit with a US dollar devaluation between the time the order was placed and when it was shipped. Billing is done as of the time of shipping so the buyer takes some risk but not a great amount.
The plants arrived here in a condition equal to orders shipped here from within the continental US.
We ordered about 40 rhizomes. The shipping costs were $135 Australian (about $101 US).
I'm reluctant to look at the numbers for actual cost of each variety at the moment after gettin' hit with a US dollar devaluation. So... I just look at the irises.
They are so much more appealing to look at than money!

Bill Burleson
