MACHISMO from Blyth (that one is still in its pot a year later, as I have been taking a lesson from Bill and been "Lazy" (snort!).  My excuse has been I just didn't get out and get work done last year.

I've been tryin' some irises in pots for several years. I call this a quasi scientific effort. Regardless of the pot size (up to 5 gallons) or potting mix, I have never grown a TB, long term, in a pot better than in can be grown in the ground.

That Greenfield guy hurt my feelings with his seedling results in pots. His results were counter intuitive to the results I had experienced with mature rhizomes. I can tell you my experience with some year 2000 seedlings left in pots (lazy) until this day. They are mentally and physically retarded (don't bloom and don't grow). I think Mike astute in the time he removes seedlings from the pot.

I have a friend here famous for buying strange and wonderful stuff in pots that she can't live without. She throws a wide loop, from Memphis to Jackson to Bermingham. The plants sometimes sit on the end of a concrete driveway adjacent to an already full yard. Her husband tells her repeatedly that plant roots have difficulty penetrating concrete. I think him correct so I sit mine on top of a graveled area or under an oak tree. I sometimes find myself wishin' pots would deterioate faster. Sara and I are kindred spirits, flower children, or plant gluttons whichever you prefer. I think Tommy is the smarter of the three of us. He sometimes pays at OSIS plant sales to not take plants home. <laughin'>
