I gathered the single take this week. 10
seeds from a SOLAR FIRE X TBIRD Sdlg. This is far out of my usual
collection. I'm looking at more than 1300 seeds gathered this year and I
didn't plant everything from last year. Mostly they are some kind of AB
derivative. I'm short on prepared space, so I'm sure to hold over a lot of
the pods for another time. I also made some other straight TB
crosses. I haven't done that in several years. This year there were
zero bee pods so far as I know. At least every plant that had a pod had
been fiddled with and anything untouched didn't have any pods. I have had
clearly contaminated crosses in the past, but not often. I'm wondering if
I do plant the seeds and raise one or more to bloom how many of them may
resemble THORNBIRD. Neither of the parents do, but both have Tbird as a
parent. Looking at seedlings from Chris and others that have Tbird as a
parent makes me think just about anything is possible. It seems to throw a
wide variety of color and pattern amongst the progeny.
