Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] Re: SA Pod

Hello Chris,

Three pods left to gather and I'm up to 1398 seeds. Deciding on which
crosses to store in the freezer is the hardest part. I already have quite a
few stored, but it always a temptation to plant some of every cross and I
can't handle that many.

Only a day? That would be several weeks with a pickaxe for me! I'm working
on one now and it's slow...and very, very hot.

All the blooms this year had those tiny spoons. The appendage is flat and
attached to the fall for a bit then ends up with the spoon. That's the
standard look for it's appendages though it has had a few horns and a few
misses in the past. I like the appendages. I'd like them to be even longer
without getting wider - sort of like strings.
The plant is a very strong grower and prolific bloomer here. Those are the
strengths here. I think form could be better and the colors took me a bit
to get used to. It's easily the most consistant giving appendages from
first bloom to last.

Unfortunately I don't find that odd. That has been the characteristic here.
It bloomed this year for only the second time. But the plant grows well.
The clump is quite large. This year was easily the best year of bloom I've
had and it held onto the horns really well. I tried for pods using the
Tbird seedling but didn't get any. I was hoping it would be more agreeable
about blooming in your conditions. I wonder if that is true elsewhere?

Daylilies are a bust for me. They are gradually declining. The deer like
them and the water limits and scorching heat aren't to their liking. Hostas
are hard. I had a few for a couple of years, but ultimately the dry, hot
summers got them. They required a lot of attention in the summer.
