Re: Re: SAGE CROSSES

Chris;

Reflecting on my observations in our garden, convention gardens and
photos from Patrick, Francelle and others in the southwest , seasonal
temps have a strong effect on SA expression. This will mean your task
may be the most difficult but also very important because any SA
seedlings you develop should be hardy and consistent for SA everywhere.
They may not conform to the AIS judges handbook for form but we
certainly would appreciate being able to add their vigor and consistency
to our crosses.

One note on your selections. Based on several hundred Sutton's seedlings
from Romantic Evening it should be considered a very poor SA breeder.
The color/pattern seems to be very dominant and reflected in a high
percentage of seedlings.

Wishing you the best,
Michael M. Much warmer Stockton Ca. Zone 9b.
