I found Eagle Control to be acceptable here in SW Mo. It has large
flowers, but the stalks were fairly short and really large and stiff. Every
stalk stood strait up, a must for large flowers in my book, especially here
with the storms we get. But, I didn't get a single take on it and dobbed
almost every bloom. I did get 2 takes from it's pollen, which it produced
alot of. The form was large frilly and wide at the hafts, especially for a
SA'er. I'd be interested in hearing if anybody got any takes on Eagle
control. I don't recall it being listed on
the one's posted. If it is a good breeder? Which way?
I agree with Bill about how tastes change in regards to form and
what's "IN." Time change and trends change, we can look to the
historics and see that. But with all flowers that evolve, e.g. daylilies.
Different forms come up as hybridizers go different directions. What i'm
getting at is...Where's the Spider iris? lol. While some like the super
wide, heavy substance, ruffly iris. isn't there room for more than one
type?
Just some thoughts and questions. The LA's and Spurias are finishing up
here,
watching the pods grow. Here's a stalk of Eagle control that got me a
blue ribbon at the Iris society of the ozarks. These flowers were as big
as the Supreme Sultan that was shown. Will Warner
