Hello Chris, Very sorry to hear about the borer, nasty things.  for the 
least toxic solution try Gardens Alive!.  Beneficial Nematodes are good 
against any grubs if you want an organic solution, as is diatomatious 
earth, just don't breath it.  Your situation might be more drastic where 
you might want to use some sort of pesticide, and then use the organic 
one's next year as a follow up control.  I didn't realize borers were a 
problem that far north.  
Glad to hear you got so many seedling on they way.  Do you grow any 
iris in pots?  Curious if they were effected by the borers?  
The Daylilies are starting here.  Mauna Loa, Dark Star, Kindly light, and 
Open hearth are putting on the best show right now.  Hope you have 
better luck with them.  Good luck on getting rid of those nasty worms.  
Very discouraging, but I encourage you to keep going. I'd like to see 
those babies bloom.  :)  Cya. Will
