Hi Will,

You might be right, I may use something aggressive against these 
pests and follow up next year with organic treatments.  The borers 
appeared here last year out of the blue but I'll get them eventually !

I've been a bit lazy dealing with this situation, now I'll go out and 
get an expensive sprayer and take action.  I did apply an application 
of the diatomatious earth which also had rotonone and I also used a 
product called Bug Be Gone but I used it very sparingly and possibly 
at the wrong time.  It's supposedly low toxicity.  Obviously not 
effective in the doses I applied.
