This just goes to show that conditions of pH, temperature, soils are all significant variables not only in SA trait expression, but on the general strength of a variety as well.

Unfortuanately perhaps, I've been thinkin' some.

In order to reduce variables, is the following practical?

Suppose we were each to puchase a bag (bags) of an inexpensive, nationally distrubuted brand  top soil or potting soil. Then plant existing varieties in that medium? Maybe from Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Home Depot.

Would this not perhaps minimize nutrients and pH as a variable in an economical way by giving us a standard medium in which to grow? Maybe leaving light, temperature, elevation,  and latitude (a reasonable measure of light) as external variables all of which can be measured with little or no expense. Would this not make drawing genetic inferences concerning expression of space age characteristics easier and with a higher degree of confidence?

I see bagged soils as inexpesinve as $1.50.
