Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] Re: Need opinions

Hey, i know what you mean. Growing iris up at Tahoe was no easy deal. It was really survival of the hardiest.  Now that i'm down at a lower el. the survivors are doing right well and producing like crazy.
I pretty much like anything SA, but, prefer the simpler looking ones to the extreme variety. I have so many old Austins to choose from that it'll take years to get around to crossing most of them the way i'd like.

Anyway,  gotta go and check on the latest rain damage and see if there's anything left to do a viable cross with. The weather is supposed to turm hotter into next week, so pollen time will be shorter if not harder.

Austin used to introduce lots of breeder seedlings to those who
couldn't afford his, even for then, incredibly expensive SA
introductions.

For me, other traits are more important that bud count.  Vigor being
#1 for me. If it produces seedlings that grow like crazy, I'd say
introduce it.  You wouldn't believe how bad some of my seedlings grow
up here.  It's like the acid test for plants up here.
