Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] New Member Bio Robert Benbow

Hello Bob, I'm also in Mo and have been hybridizing SA iris for a few
years now. Good to hear from someone fairly local. I think your about
100 mi north of me. This Robin is a great place to learn more about SA
iris, and to see new varieties, as well as seedlings. There are people
from many areas of the country, and it's interesting to see how different
varieties are doing in their zones/climates. You might also be intersted
in SAGE. Search the archives for SAGE and there is alot of info. The
parents suggested are also some you might want to add to your
collection. I'll send you info. off list of the local iris club that meets in
Springfield, Mo. There are several hybridizers and a few judges in the
club that are a great asset.
Once again, good to hear from you. Here's some pics of one of my
favorite seedlings, maiden bloom this year. I posted pics of it earlier,
but I think these are better.

Good Morning,

My name is Bob Benbow and I live in Camdenton Missouri near Lake Ozark.
A compulsive gardener growing a little of most every thing. About ten
years ago I started collecting and hybridizing daylilies I now have
over 400 varieties and raise about 3,000 seedlings a year and have
resistered two. I have always grown iris and have about 100 TB but have
become fascinated with SA I especialy like the large flounces. So being
a member of the daylily e-mail Robin I started surfing the net and
found AIS and that talk robin which lead to the SA Robin. I am a rank
amateur at iris and have a lot to learn. I will be mostly a lurker but
will chime in when I have some thing to ask or add.

Thank You
