Different how Bill?

Different in shape and/or size with difference in shape causing the deepest curiosity. Some are shaped as elongated footballs. Some more a rugby ball shaped.

Sometimes pods differ significantly in length, are of a similar diamerter, and contain similar seed counts.

Sometimes pods of similar diameter and length having different end shapes (sharply pointed vs. blunt) and contain similar numbers of seed.

Mostly such observations are just idle curiosity on my part. For centuries I expect botanists have been using pod shapes and seed shapes to identify plants. I had always taken their assertions literally until I started messin' with irises. Likely, they are using a range of pod shapes for identity purposes rather than a specific shape.
