Duncan,
As Elliott stated, this plant is very easily propagated from stem
cuttings, it helps to put a moisture tent over them for a week or so
after you have placed the cutting in soil less mix.
I work in a nursery and we sell them strictly as ornamental plants as
they do grow as beautiful vines, especially for containers. They are
treated as annuals here.
I know of three varieties, a lime green leaf, a dark leaf ("Blackie"),
and a pink and green leaf.
