OK here it goes. This is our first big garden so we are real new at
this. Because of the warm temps here in north central florida we were
able to plant Valentines day weekend. We have yellow squash, zucchini,
corn, bush beans, tomatoes (several are already turning red on the vine),
gourds, broccoli, carrots, watermelon, cantalope, pickle cukes and reg size
cukes, pumpkins, peas, snow peas, sugar snap peas, green peppers, chives.

Question: the soil is sandy, we are working on composting but for now we
are having fun with what we have. My yellow squash suffered from blossom
end rot and I was told to spray calicum on them, the leaves had yellowed
about 1 1/2 weeks before and was told they needed iron added to the soil
which I did. Now it seems that there are some brown spots on the
leaves...is this normal or is it something else. The peas are getting
fat but the leaves on the bottom are drying out (some have turned brown)
what can I do for that. The extention agent said that the brown spots on
the tomatoes (only one or two) could be early blight and to put a product
"Maneb" on them what is that?

We have been spraying about once a week with liquid spectracide and
dacronil since it seems like without it the crickets and grasshoppers
have a feast! And I lose my veggies (squash and cukes and pumpkins)
sucumb to some kind of fungus.

Any advice or answers to this garden newbie would be appreciated.

Suzie
