Considering your pillbugs, mulch is out, cover crops, such as dutch
clover or buckwheat, are good, solarizing might work if it gets hot
enough during the day. Actually a mowing machine is not bad as long as
the weeds don't go to seed. If a weed should go to seed, forty years you
will weed! otherwise, it's grub, grub, grub.:-) The higher the organic
content of your garden, the easier it is to weed.
