Hello,
Does anyone know the status of the proposed USDA rules regarding the
definition of "organic"?
People support organic farmers, often paying 20-50% more for produce,
because they don't use genetically modified organisms, food irradiation,
or sewage sludge. However, none of these "advanced technologies" would
be prohibited under the new organic rules.
Now, I am not an organic backyard gardener myself, nor do I buy
organicly grown produce, but it does seem odd that "sludge" grown
vegetables could ever be classified as organic.
Does anyone know the status of these proposed rules?
Thanks,
Tom
