Vegetable Garden / El Nino
Hello All,
I live in the Northeastern US (Massachusetts) and I would like to know
how we should take El Nino into consideration, when we are trying to
figure out the timing for vegetable planting.
We have already planted our peas, lettuce, carrots, and early onion
sets, but I wonder if we can expect more unseasonably warm weather, and
if it will affect the cool weather crops in the Northeast.
We have already had the warmest spring on record since 1865! Boston has
already hit the 89F mark.
Also, should we be adjusting when we plant warm weather crops as well?
Usually, tomatos and peppers wait until late May. Will El Nino allow us
to plant earlier this season in the Northeast?
Any experst out there? Everything I know seems to be "out the window"
in regards to the usual spring weather.
Thank you.
