Newspaper Pots

>>Has anybody ever used the pots you make out of newspaper?
>
Yes, I have. They are actually a good, sturdy pot, and do not draw water
away from the growing medium like peat pots do (they can't hold as much
water, so more of it has to stay in the soil). For plants with a vigorous
root system, like tomatoes, you can just plant pot and all in your garden.
The pot is easy to strip away, with little or no disturbance to the roots,
if you decide to plant without it. The mold for making the pots is
overpriced (usually around $14.00), but you can easily fold up a newspaper
(2-3 layers or more, depending on how long you will be growing indoors)
without one or make your own mold.

Speaking of mold, I had no problems with it growing on the soil surface
when I used newspaper pots. I haven't used the pots recently because I
have so many plastic ones.
