There's a lot of discussion and more than a little paranoia on the
subject. Since cattle in the U.S. have never been fed sheep offal I'm
not too worried about my local blood or bone meal being infected. Even
if the chance was there I'm in much more danger on my daily commute. So
I'm going to keep using bonemeal in all my fertilizers and blood meal as
appropriate. Maybe the scare will drive down the price!

I made a paper pot maker out of firewood, on my homemade woodlathe.
(No, I'm not a self-sufficiency nut; I just enjoyed the process of
making the lathe more than I actually enjoy making things *on* the
lathe.) Works just fine, but I'm still mostly a plastic pot user.
