I know other people have remarked about the good geese can do in your garden, such as eating slugs. However, mine are not that well trained. They seem to have to yank things out in order to find their way to the bugs. I went out last night to find a few young asparagus spears looking a little mashed. So I quickly surrounded the area with some chicken wire. I planted the asparagus last year and so this is the first year I will be able to enjoy a harvest. I am not about to share it with any critters or fowl. I had taken the chicken wire fence down last year as part of my fall clean-up and I have not done any spring planting yet so I haven't put it back up. It about time to spend a weekend in the garden getting things in shape.
