Thanks for your replies and help. When the roots started sticking through
the small starting peat pots, I moved them inside 4" paper pots and added
potting soil around them. Hopefully they'll be ok for another 3 weeks, I
plan on burying pots and all when I set them in the ground.
Sheila, I'll keep you posted once they're in the ground - I was going for
one good zucchini plant and 2 good cucumber plants, I have 2 and 3
respectively. Btw, I started some corn in peat pots also, 8 of those came
up and I transferred to 4" paper pots like I did the cukes and zukes...
they'd gotten 6-8" tall and looked great til one of my cats found them. 3
of the 8 are still going, the other 5 look like they've been taken down by a
dull lawnmower blade. Oh well... taught me that I better put a fence around
them when I get ready to direct sow into the garden :-)
