I think it is time to give an early report on my little planting
depth experiment. If you will remember, I planted 3 tomato seeds
at 3 different depths in each 3 inch diameter pot. (total of 28 pots)
One at
1/4 inch depth, one at one inch depth and one at two inches.
I am going to speak in generalities rather than specifics
because, well, I want to, and you don't have any say in this anyway!
The 1/4 inch and the one inch depth made no difference at all.
They all generally showed at about the same time. The two inch
deep seedlings broke the surface about 3 days later in general.
The two inch deep ones are, of course, smaller right now but
I am going to let all of them grow to see if the depth makes any
difference in the long run. I will keep you informed. (if I can
remember)
