Have you noticed more people than usual digging up
part of the back yard for vegetable gardens this
year? I think I have--it may be that I'm just
looking more.
Do you have any special plans for gardening in case
of food shortages? I don't expect anything big to
happen, but besides stocking up a little more than
usual on canned food and bottled drinks, I'm going
to be sure I have a few winter-hardy vegetables in
the garden for fresh vitamins. Kale will be the
main one. It doesn't grow much in the winter but
it stays alive, no matter how cold it gets, here in
the Southeastern US. You can also cover and keep
carrots and leeks.
Is anybody planning anything more extensive in honor
of the Year 2000?
