Uh, thank you very mulch.

First, I strongly suspect that what you're saying is true:  the
superabundant weed seeds came right in on the city dump trucks, mixed with
all those nutrient-rich leaves.

Second, I do pull them out, by the hundreds, over and over again, in the
early season when you can see them just after emergence.  But later in the
season, when they emerge under the heavy cover of your fully-grown garden
and wrap themselves around your tomato vines before you even *see* them, you
can't pull them out without pulling out your tomatoes, because they're
twined AROUND everything.

Sigh.  Do I have to give up the leaves?
