The thing to do is when you find them to carefully follow the 'vine'
down to it's root are and GENTLY rip it out. This kills it and dowsn't
disturb your wanted plants.
The reason you have to be very careful is not to leave bits behind
because these darn things have such a strong survival instinct that they
will regrow from a scrap of stem or root. But if removed from the soil-
that's goodbye.

not really - what you should do is compost them still. Try to get the
compost pile up to a good cooking heat and this should kill them off.
You could start the pile in spring and use it to enrich the soil in the
fall or wait until the following spring. I know it is a bit of a pain
but gardeners always seem to be doing most things towards the future
planting season.
Otherwise you have to follow dear Ruth Stout's original design- dig a
trench 6 ft down and bury them there!!!!!(hahahahaha)
