I took a good look and didn't seem to find any evidence of them rascally
little vine borers. However, I did find something else which got me to
wonderin'.. As I removed some of the yellowed leaves from both the yeller
squarsh and zucchini, I noticed quite a bit of water literally pouring out of
the stems. enough of a puddle on the ground that I would think the stems must
have been about full! Has anyone else ever encountered or heard of this
occurance? My new friut production has come to alsmost a standstill, after
several weeks of such bounty that I supplied dang near the whole neiborhood,
and I do miss my fresh squarshies sooo... Perhaps this is a natural
occurance, and the plants have rather "petered out", and mayhap I shoulda
planted in stages to carry right through to the end of the growing season.
(BTW it has been so cloudy cool and damp for the past month, I am just now
getting a little color on one little 'mater, and I have a total of three
peppers growing on six plants. Geesh!
Thanks to all who straighten their gardener's legs and back long
enough to sit and answer!
