It's poor form to post to a list with attachments. For the recipient,
there's no way to tell just by looking at the name of the attachment what it
really contains.
Things to watch out for especially: attachments named .exe or .vba
It's best never to open an e-mail attachment unless:
- You know exactly who sent it and you trust them.
- You normally expect to get attachments from the sender
Here's what's safe:
I regularly open attachments from my co-worker, but we're pretty well
protected inside the company. I've never gotten a virus from a co-worker
unless it was a cold.
I never open e-mail attachments from outside the company. Period.
