Connie,
We planted tomatoes early this year, we figured if ElNino could keep
the winter so mild, surely the spring would be the same, so took a
chance. Will admit there were a couple of nights we were out covering
the plants with newspaper, but it paid off, we had ripe tomatoes by
the 4th of July. It was a gamble, but isn't all gardening a gamble? We
planted the first corn early, and the soil was too wet and cool, so
had to plow it up and replant. It would be nice to harvest and can and
freeze veggies in cooler weather tho. I am interested to know when
schools begin in the different areas. That used to be a big thing when
I was in school, harvest and the State Fair were usually at the same
time, now schools start back so early here, but are out the end of
May. Zone 5/6 Indiana
