Yippee,
I have just harvested the largest watermelon I have ever grown. OK, I know
many of you have grown larger ones, but here on the so calif coast, they are
not that easy to grow, at least for me. It is a Tiger Baby, one of those
smaller ice box varieties, and it weighs in at just under 20 lbs. I have not
cut into it yet, but its smaller sisters have tasted great this year. :):):)
Tiger baby is a hybrid melon. Has anyone ever tried to grow seed collected
from a hybrid melon? It is growing with 2 other varieties of watermelon that
were blooming at the same time so there would have been cross-pollination,
but do you think it is worth trying to save its seed?
janet.
