There is a lot to be said for these old potatoes if your life depends
on having some crop in spite of all that nature can throw at you.
If you can mic them up in small patches that helps confuse the enemies.
See the notes about this on a website
http://www.futurefoods.com section in leaflet about Potatoes Go Home, but have a good browse anyway.
There is a new potato around which seems to have a lot going for it.
Name Charlotte. I shall be trialling that this year.
I remember growing an early variety during the forties called Early
Rose when we had food rationing. We ate them cold almost like sweets.
I suppose that has disappeared as I have never met it since.
