cold hardy transplants????

Okay I have a Q...

I am new here I don't really know what to say to introduce myself. ummm I
am planting container veggies this year as I anticapate a local move in the
early summer. I have flowere experience in Calif from a large yard and now
I am starting over, here.

for the last day or two I've planted (transplanted) about 18 total of
cauliflower, broccolli & mostly brussel sprouts. I put a lot of love in to
each of my economy pots I bought .
yesterday it was 73-75F here and today it is in the 30's now and supposed
to get to a hard freeze of 20F tonight.

well except that they seem to be in the wind everybody looks good so far.
anything I need to do to protect these little guys from the elements tonight??

I have seen finally a few years ago the cute stalk that brussels grow on.
if they are not harvested by the stalk, how much of a yeild can I expect
per plant??

we can eat them till we turn green ourselves.

also when the season is over, can I use the same soil in the same pot THIS
YEAR for the tomatos?? since they are different families I am guessing it
will be okay this year and them tossing it and starting fresh next year..
