Whatever the type Janet is growing, it seems to me that she has the
choice of picking them early or letting the mice help themselves to the
peas. I don't suppose the mice read the label. In which case she will
get most out of the fleshiest pods.
A book I have gives a list of mouse deterrents:- Strong herbs such as
mint or camphor plant, alliums, elder, euphorbias, wormwood, corn
chamomile. There might be something in all that!
