Hi,

If I recall, I saw on an old 'square-foot gardening' show a small veggie
garden that had been set up on a platform like large tables. I think the soil
was about one foot deep.

When my father was in his 90's and could no longer go out into the garden, we
put some large plastic pots on the patio for him to use. He was able to plant
some tomatoes and green bush beans in them. I am sure you could plant more
things than he, but this is what he wanted to eat. YOu could also grow
carrots, spinach, beets, lettuce, etc.

You could get some large black plastic pots, the large 15 gallon size, and
fill them with a good packaged commercial potting mix, not soil from the
ground. These pots are about 18 to 20 inches tall. Perhaps you could place
them on a couple of side by side railroad ties. This would not be 3 feet
tall, but it would be more than two feet.

If you used the commercial potting mix, you would have to fertilize more
frequently.

Janet
