Yes, the 30-06 is a large caliber rifle. The same diameter that was used in
most of WWI and WWII. I can't see it as a woodchuck or other small animal
killer, but I think the original reference was talking with tongue in cheek
about controlling some varmint that was a threat to the garden and food
supply of the grower. Duane
