Re: Growing something really big.


THis is not a perennial, but have you ever tried growing the giant pumpkins.  My husband got the seeds one year but we didn't get them planted in time for a long growing season.  I did the sunflower thing two years ago.  THey were huge. Looks like a small forest.  Mu garden is near a well traveled road, so they were quite a conversation piece.  I also put in a bed of strawberries last year.  I planted both June and ever-bearing varities.  I am anxuious to see how my crop is this year.  I put in 50 plants so I should have plenty.  I love strawberrie and plan to make lots of jam.  I need advice on pinchin off runners.  I hate to kill anything so I did not pinch any off last year.  Consequently I have tripled the number of plants I think.  I this a good thing or should I start pinching back in the spring?
