The best tool I have seen for weeding rows is a Wolf hoe (made in
Germany) which has a thin wavy double edged blade about 4 inches wide
supported at the ends. The supports help to protect the plants and
because it is small you can get a lot of thrust for cutting the weeds.
Also it pays to keeo the crop rows very straight and put pieces of twig
in to mark the exact row position. A few radish seeds with the crop will
help for slow germinators.
