Newbie question

Hello, I'm new to the list and new to gardening. I live in the Seattle
area. This summer I started pole beans and peas (both planted early June).
I know that's late for peas, but I'm so new to gardening that I don't really
mind if they never produce. I had the space and I like watching the vines
grow. I did use an enation resistant variety. Both beans and peas seem to
be doing well, though the leaves on the bean plants have been chewed a
little bit, especially when they were seedlings. Not so much now that
they're growing faster and climbing the trellis.

Anyway, my question is about watering. Basically I've been watering every
day (on hot, sunny days). I've also experimented a little bit with watering
every other day, and so far the plants seem to do fine with that as well. I
know overwatering is bad, but underwatering must be worse. Are there any
other Pacific Northwest gardeners on the list? How often should I be
watering?

    Amy
