hi lindsay
if u have access to indian grocery stores u can look for jaljeera mix packets from MDH brand. just add chilled water to abt 10 gm of that powder. better as per the instructions on it. add some more cubes of ice. garnish with crudely broken (torn by hand) mint leaves. its very refreshing.
also u cud make "shikanji" which is just indian lemonade..lemon juice, salt, black salt, sugar, mint leaves and ice cubes.
chutnies r great spreads for veggie sandwiches - grind in a mixer - chopped cilantro 2 bunches, 1 bunch chopped mint leaves, 2 green serrano peppers, 3-4" piece of ginger, salt, cumin seeds, lemon juice. make sure cilantro and mint r crisp and fresh and free of dirt. if they r wilted then their fiber won't grind well in mixer. replace mint with garlic+tablespoon of peanuts for another variation.
the veggie bed is 8'X4'X1' made out of cherry wood landscape lumber. looks like two rectangle frames kind of one over the other. filled it with supreme veggie garden mix from local Pacific Top Soils.
there were lot of leaves just touching the ground which i have just removed. have added boiled tea leaves.
does anyone know if miracle grow works on vegetables??
thanks everyone
kavita

hi,
Sorry to hear your toms are not thriving!!
Are they too hot, too cold or need more water?? You could try re-planting
them but much deeper, the stems will root as well. You do say how you
prepared the bed but that may be the key.
I live in England and was interested to know what Jaljeera is and what
chutney's you make.
Lindsay
