Electric slug fence

Ok. Looking for the cheap way to stop crawly thingies out of the garden
while still using (and justifying) an electric fence charger, I came up
with this.
I took a 4 foot by 8 foot piece of half inch thick, foil faced,
styrofoam insulation board and cut a one and a half inch wide piece off
of the eight foot edge.
I then, using a straight edge and razor blade, cut out a half inch
wide strip of the foil right down the middle of the strip. This left two
half inch wide foil strips on each side, separated by a half inch non
conductive strip down the middle.
I then took some aluminum foil and folded it over to one half inch
wide on one end, and twisted to sort of form a wire on the other end. I
then taped
the flat end to one of the foil strips on the styrofoam strip. I did
this to
both strips. This gave me "wires" from the foil strips that I could use
to hook up the strips to the electric fence and to ground.
It works! anything trying to crawl across the two strips gets
zapped.
I used a half inch space between the two strips, but I' sure I could have
cut it down to a quarter inch strip without shorting out in case there
are smaller crawly thingies in your garden. Perhaps a more powerful
charger than mine might not let you do that.
Now to justify the expense of buying an electric fence charger I
will mention other things you can do with a charger.

1. Great fun at pool parties.
2. Use to see if guests are rummaging through your medicine cabinet.
3. Train the dog not to urinate on the bushes.
4. Keep salesmen from using your doorbell. (fake doorbell needed)

Stan the cheap and lazy gardener
