HIYAs,
Michelle's hubby here, so please forgive me if this particular solution
already came up. I've never even heard of the ol copper barrier trick to
keep out slugs. But every summer my Mom used to ship me off to the
relatives up in NH. My Uncle was quite the farmer. (He had a huge
cornfield and another acre to play with as his garden.) The duty of
cleaning out the slugs fell to my cousin and I every morning. We'd go out
right after breakfast every morning and dump all the slugs out into the
trash after they'd spent the entire night drinking themselves to death in
little capfulls of beer. We'd refill all the caps (they had quite an
array of them surrounding the garden's perimeter) and then and only then
would be allowed to go play.
Alas, I ain't got no home videos of the slug dumping variety, but you can
take my word for it. :)
